Thy Word #3

Imagine for a moment scripture verses
being compared to a sword.

Typically swords are a few feet long,
and today, made out of various types of steel.
In ancient times, swords were typically
made from iron by a blacksmith.

According to Wikipedia a sword is:

“A bladed weapon intended for slashing or thrusting
… and to inflict deep stab wounds.”

And yet the Word of God
is compared to a sword.

For the word of God is living and powerful,
and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit,
and of joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
(Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)

God’s word is not typically used in a physical sense,
but in the above verse we see it used in a
powerful, spiritual way.

If you take a few minutes and read and meditate
on this verse, you will learn
the Word of God:

a. is living
b. is powerful
c. is sharper than any two edged sword
d. pierces to the division of soul and spirit
e. pierces to the division of joints and marrow
f. is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart

One thing this means is that if you read and meditate
on God’s Word, you will learn more about yourself,
and more about what you think about God,
and more about your thoughts about others,
than you ever thought possible.

The Word of God is living and powerful,
for our use here on earth.
